These days, my baby boy starts school pretty early in the morning. Rather than him waking me up to start the day, I now get to set an alarm and sneak into his room to gently rouse this sweet pea from slumber. This is one of my favorite moments of the morning and maybe even the entire day. One juicy tidbit I’ve learned from my dad revolves around optimism and positivity. There are lots of different ways to spin it, but here are a few of my morning mantras:
-
Happiness is a choice.
-
Life is what you make it.
-
Beyonce wasn’t built in a day.
… OK, I threw the last one in there, but you get the idea. With all of this in mind, I want to make sure I set the right tone each A.M. for this kiddo.
MANIFEST YOUR MOOD
Alright, I promise to not get TOO woo-woo here, but I must say that starting my day with gratitude is a gamechanger. The more gratitude I put out in the universe, the more I have to be grateful for. Let’s harken back for a second to “Beyonce wasn’t built in a day.” While gratitude IS the right attitude, it takes practice, for me at least.
MAMA BEAR HUGS
No one, let alone a sweet, innocent child and IMHO the most perfect prince on the planet enjoys an abrupt and startling wake up call. In this house, we don’t even save those pots and pans and fireworks for 4th of July or New Years - Too loud, y’all! I prefer to slowly crack the door and sneak into my tiny one’s dark and cozy retreat. I snuggle him with the biggest mama bear hug I can muster and in a sing-song way tell him “good morning” over and over. The day has truly begun!
